The Sredneasiatskaya Ovtcharka (Caucasian Shepherd Dog) is one of the oldest breeds, the existence of which has more than two thousand years. In ancient times, the Caucasian Shepherd Dogs were used to guard herds and houses from predators. The first mention of large dogs similar to mastiffs dates back to I century BC when the troops of the Armenian king Tigran II used them.

In the process of selection the following necessary qualities have always been developed: physical strength, confidence and courage, sharply developed hearing, good eyesight, thick and waterproof coat. All these skills, as well as endurance and simplicity of Caucasian Shepherd Dog allow people to use them in different climatic conditions, including the most severe ones.

These large and impressive dogs always attract people’s attention. Caucasian Shepherd Dogs are wonderful guards. They are suspicious and hostile towards any stranger, who seems to be dangerous. Representatives of this breed have a sense of self-esteem, independence, courage and a desire to protect his master.
